An
Amherst landmark since 1968
Originally
conceived in 1968 as an English pub, the motif featured coats of
arms, oversized booths, and a bar held together by hundreds of wooden
pegs. The first menu could fit nicely on a blackboard and featured a
few sandwiches, burgers, and steaks.
Committed
from day one to providing great food and friendly service, the Pub
enjoyed immediate success. When Johnny Carson appeared at the 1968
UMass Winter Carnival, he had dinner here.
The
restaurant soon became a local attraction for fine entertainment as
well. Natalie Cole made her singing debut in 1972 while a student at
UMass. Well-known folk singers performed, encouraging the audience to
sing along. And many popular rock and roll bands played the Pub.
Much
of the credit for our continued success goes to an amazing Pub family
of staff members, past and present. Many are now professionals in the
hospitality business, and some have children at UMass. We thank them
all for their dedication and lasting friendship.
Our
menu has evolved and expanded through the years, but our philosophy
remains the same -- great food and friendly service.
The
Pub is a member of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, Promoting
Downtown Amherst, the Massachusetts and National Restaurant
Association and has won numerous Valley Advocate awards . The Pub
also received a Paul Winske award for handicap accessibility. We
remain dedicated to our local community through donations to schools
and social service agencies.
We

checks, please.)

parties of eight or more a 18% gratuity will be added to the check.
